Composting / Community Garden

Northern Cairngorms Zero Biodegradable Waste Project

Compost bins were sold at subsidised price of £5 each to individuals, schools and organisations. Community composting agents were employed for a few hours per week to provide info and advice, and promote composting to their local community.

North Lanarkshire Green Waste Trial

Trial that provided households with free compost bins following completion of a baseline recycling questionnaire. Various workshops were held to maintain momentum, and a quarterly newsletter was produced.

Golspie Recycling Action Network (GREAN)

Development of a community garden and composting project – operating a bring site for household garden waste.

Electrical Equipment

Falkirk ICT Recycling & Training Project

Computer equipment recycling project that provides low cost, refurbished computers to socially excluded individuals and voluntary organisations.

Golspie Recycling Action Network (GREAN)

Purchase of a shredder/baler to produce animal bedding.

Real Nappies

Edinburgh Real Nappy Project (LEEP)

Involves the employment of a development officer to establish a real nappy incentive scheme encouraging parents to use real nappies. Promotion through info leaflets and presentations to community groups.

Waste Awareness Campaign

Ross-shire Waste Action Network (ROWAN)

Involves recruiting volunteer households to closely monitor and improve their waste practices. The results of the project will be published too.
